Bee the Change Fundraiser 2021

The month of May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and it is an occasion to remember, preserve, and celebrate the personal and community contributions made by Asians and Pacific Islanders to advance inclusion, equity and justice. We remember Tien Fuh Wu, who was freed from child slavery in Chinatown in 1879, then served as a critical partner to Donaldina Cameron in the rescuing of over 2,000 Chinese immigrant and refugee women and girls from sex trafficking and domestic slavery in the early twentieth century. Tien Fuh Wu, and the many courageous and resilient Asian American activists who followed, stood up, spoke out and led actions in the face of exploitative labor practices, discrimination, restrictive legislation, and racist conditions, are beacons on our path of perseverance.

For all of us, recent anti-Asian violence and hate crimes are poignant reminders that our work to empower, heal and advocate for inclusion, equity and justice is a long, long road.

When you make a gift to Cameron House you provide access to compassionate services that help our community heal and thrive. Your contributions also help our organization keep pace in a highly competitive environment to retain and attract talent, spark innovation in our programs and services, meet emergent and compelling unmet needs in our community, and improve our building, grounds, technology, and equipment.

We will be holding our Spring fundraiser – Bee the Change – through July 15. We ask for your generosity in supporting our ongoing work to support the current needs of families in Chinatown and we ask you to invest in future opportunities to innovate and poise Cameron House for future positive community impact.
