What drew you to Cameron House?
After leading an Advancement team at the national level (League of Women Voters, headquartered in Washington, D.C.) for two years, I began to feel deeply drawn to my own AAPI community in my own town. Coupled with my previous years-long experience in an incredibly similar community center where my own children thrived in the afterschool programs and summer camps, I craved that familiar vibe of a tight-knit community and the intimate, creative team of problem solvers. No sooner had I understood this realization than Sarah McNamara cold emailed me about an opportunity at this awesome place called Cameron House. After meeting each executive team member and Liane from the board, I felt more and more deeply called to this work and place. It was serendipitous!
What’s been your favorite part of working for Cameron House so far?
I’ve truly appreciated learning about everybody’s myriad connections to Cameron House. It’s clear there’s a lot of love and care for this place throughout this community. I’m in awe, and still learning all I can.
What are you most looking forward to in the next several months?
Meeting absolutely everybody! And maybe learning some Cantonese and Mandarin.
Welcome aboard, Kim Lan!
