Harvest Home Project

Autumn is here and Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

2014enewsHarvestHomeFor Cameron House, that means we are gearing up for our annual Harvest Home Project. Our Social Services Ministry will be spearheading this project in offering food gift bags to 200 families. These food gift bags will be filled with culturally suitable Thanksgiving groceries for families in our community. Those receiving these gift bags include a number of clients in our Social Services programs, families in our Bilingual Afterschool Program, and members of our community at the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown. Our goal for this year is $4,000. If donations exceed our goal, contributions will go toward supporting Christmas holiday events for our program participants.

While the typical American Thanksgiving dinner features turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, we understand our Chinese immigrant community may be unfamiliar with these foods. Instead, we provide Chinese groceries so that they may share a delicious meal with their loved ones and celebrate our great American tradition.

The Friends of Cameron House, an amazing group of volunteers with our Social Services Ministry, will help put together these bags of groceries. In addition, our partners at the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown will have a special offering to support Harvest Home. The Cameron House family is excited to be able to continue this meaningful Thanksgiving tradition. We would love to count on your support!
